A dramatic tale of animal survival told through the eyes of an otter, narrated by the legendary Peter Ustinov and considered to be one of the greatest animal films ever. Originally released in 1978, this special edition DVD release brings the magical story to a whole new generation, and it is an undeniable family favourite to be watched again and again. Set in the English countryside of the 1920s - when otter hunting was still legal - this film follows the life of Tarka the Otter from his birth into adulthood. We witness his close shaves, and his struggle with a man who tries to keep our furry hero as a pet. Filmed over a period of two years and co-scripted by the famous naturalist Gerald Durrell, we followed Tarka as he struggles to survive following the death of his mother, meets White Tip a young female otter, and comes face to face with the fearsome Deadlock, the otter-hound that killed his mother. Based on the novel by Henry Williamson, the DVD includes an image gallery, theatrical trailer and Clapperboard feature from 1979, and archive interviews with the producers. Colour DVD running time 1 hour and 27 minutes. Certificate PG.
